WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis can be defined as a natural state of mind, enhanced by physical and
mental relaxation, in which our subconscious mind is able to communicate with
our conscious mind. Without knowing it, each and every one of us experiences
hypnosis on a daily basis, Have you ever driven past your junction or arrived
at the wrong destination because your mind has wandered? Maybe you have been
sat daydreaming and said to someone “I was miles away”, or sat reading or watching
television and becoming so engrossed that you didn't hear someone call your
name? These are all states of hypnosis. |
WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is when this natural state of mind is used by a professional to
encourage therapeutic change. The Hypnotherapist assists the client in accessing
their inner resources in order to achieve realistic goals. A number of techniques
are used by the therapist in order to help bring about beneficial change.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE HYPNOTISED?
An overall feeling of complete physical and mental relaxation is experienced
by most people. Other common sensations include feeling very light or very heavy
and a tingling sensation.
|
SHALL I BE AWARE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING DURING HYPNOSIS?
Yes |
SO I AM NOT ASLEEP THEN?
No. Hypnosis does involve deep relaxation, but when in it, you will have an
enhanced state of awareness.
|
|
 |
ARE THERE SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT BE HYPNOTISED?
No, although the DEGREE varies from person to person.
|
COULD I BE INFLUENCED TO DO SOMETHING AGAINST MY WILL?
No, you will remain in COMPLETE CONTROL throughout. It is likely that the loss
of control stems from people's misconception of stage hypnosis. Remember that
participation in a stage act is entirely voluntary and the volunteer is fully
aware that they will be persuaded to perform all manner of (usually foolish)
acts.
|
HOW MANY VISITS WILL I NEED?
The number of sessions depends entirely on the individual. Problems such as
smoking can sometimes be overcome completely in one session; others may take
a few sessions, whilst more deep-rooted problems can take a number of sessions.

WHAT IS YOUR SUCCESS RATE? DO YOU
MAKE ANY GUARANTEES?
In accordance with the NCH and GHR’s guidelines,
I do not offer success rates or make any guarantees. It is difficult to define
success because success is subjective; one person's version of success is different
to another's. As with any psychological therapy, there are no guarantees in
terms of the outcome of treatment. A client must be personally motivated to
change rather solely than relying on the therapist. |
