What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis or hypnotherapy is a method which gives access to the subconscious mind. When in this state the mind is very open to suggestion, so that changes can be made and new patterns of behaviour created and new responses can be formed. It is completely natural and is similar to the REM state we experience as we sleep.
As the British Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis states –
‘In therapy, hypnosis usually involves the person experiencing a deep sense of relaxation with their attention narrowed down and focused on appropriate suggestions made by the therapist.’
